Typhoon Megi slams into Fujian, 240,000 people evacuated / 梅姬登陸福建 已1死逾24萬人避難　　　　　　　　　　

After causing widespread damage in Taiwan, Typhoon Megi barreled into China's Fujian province early yesterday morning. According to local media, the storm has led to at least 1 death. At the cities of Quanzhou and Fuzhou, more than 240 thousand people were evacuated to emergency shelters due to the storm. At coastal areas, winds over Class 12 brought by typhoon Megi led to turbulent waves several meters tall. Further inland at the town of Shuikou, torrential downpours triggered flash floods along a river vale and washed away a residential house, killing its owner. While weather alerts for Megi have been lifted on the night of the 28th, heavy rainfall is expected to persist throughout the region.
