Tanzania quake kills at least 16, injured over 200 / 坦尚尼亞規模5.7地震 16死2百餘傷

In East Africa, Tanzania, a magnitude 5.7 earthquake killed at least 16 and wounded over 200 people. In South Asia, another factory fire was reported in Bangladesh, resulting in at least 25 deaths. In the capital of Bangladesh, Dhaka, a four-storey packaging factory was engulfed by fire due to a boiler explosion. The fire almost immediately went out of control since there were many flammable objects in the room. Around 100 workers and security guards were working inside when the fire started. Over 20 fire trucks rushed to the scene to put out the fire, but not before 25 people lost their lives. Bangladesh factories have been known to have poor public safety records. The worst tragedy was a clothing factory building which collapsed and killed 1135 people in 2013. In Tanzania, on Sep 10th at 3 pm local time, a magnitude 5.7 earthquake hit the Kagera region near Lake Victoria. The quake was just 10 kilometers deep and can be felt in neighboring Rwanda and Uganda. The small town of Bukoba is the hardest hit area, with at least 13 killed and thousands of houses demolished. The number is still rising. ==RESIDENT== I felt the house was shaking. I ran to the door. The children already ran away. The wall collapsed and hit me in the head and arms. Now I'm homeless. In central Italy, an earthquake took the lives of 300 people. Rescuers saved two kittens in the rubble. They have survived the after-quakes and 15 days without food or water. Perhaps cats do have nine lives.
