BUS FARE DISCOUNT UP TO 23% FOR MID-AUTUMN FESTIVAL|80條國道客運路線 中秋優惠最低77折

The Ministry of Transportation and Communications met with intercity bus operators to discuss bus fare discount plans for the upcoming Mid-Autumn Festival. Passengers will get an even better deal than they did during the Dragon Boat Festival period, with some routes offering discounts of up to 23%. The MOTC also asked the bus operators to be ready for extra passenger volume in case of TRA labor strike. To encourage people to use public transport during the Mid-Autumn Festival holiday, the MOTC called a meeting with intercity bus operators to work out a plan for bus fare discounts. So far, 12 bus operators covering 80 routes will provide an average of 15% discounts. ==INTERCITY BUS OPERATOR== Take the Taipei-Kaohsiung route for example. If you take the high-speed rail you can get to the destination 1 to 2 hours faster than the bus. However, for a family of four, the cost is about NT$8,000 more on high-speed rail. According to bus operators, the discount for some routes will be as high as 23% off. Bus operators will submit their discount plans to the Directorate General of Highways for approval on Aug. 24. Taiwan Railways Administration is expected to add 203 trains during the Mid-Autumn Festival. However, since the new labor law requires one day off after 6 day's work, the TRA may be short-staffed during this time. Intercity bus operators said they believe the TRA labor dispute will be resolved.
