Tsai meets and hears views of indigenous protestors / 原民抗議轉型正義是假 總統突現身凱道　　　　　　　　　　

On Aug. 1, President Tsai Ing-wen formally apologized to indigenous people. However, many were dissatisfied as they felt the government did not give them rights to investigate for transitional justice. On Aug. 3, indigenous groups gathered on Ketagalan Boulevard to protest. In the afternoon, President Tsai came to meet with them and listen to their concerns. She invited the protesters into the presidential office to hold a meeting on the issues. Dozens of elderly indigenous people waited under the hot sun to be allowed into the Presidential Office for the official apology made by President Tsai Ing-wen on Aug. 1. However, the actual form of the apology caused controversy, with singer Ayal Komod criticizing on Facebook the way that elders were called up on stage as though to meet an emperor and how young people protesting were turned away from the Presidential Office by police. ==MAYAW WUDAO Founder, Historical Transitional Justice== You are very busy, so we helped you by bringing all the suggestions from the tribes, but what sort of attitude did you have? ==MAYAW BIHO Film director== Such a grand president, such insignificant tribe people, is that how you make an apology? Indigenous representatives were even more angry that Tsai said that the government would set up a historical transitional justice commission, but did not give it any power to investigate, without this it would be unable to uncover the truth. They planned to protest long-term on Ketagalan Boulevard, but in the afternoon Tsai came to talk to them. She hugged singer Panai Kusui and sat down to listen to the protesters concerns. Let's start the commission first, to clarify all the issues, then we can amend the law accordingly. Tsai emphasized that currently there was no law and so the first stage of the historical transitional justice was to establish a commission to clarify all the issues. Tsai invited the protesters to come into the building to hold a meeting about the commission.
