Taipei City experienced record high temperatures over 38 Celsius for 3 consecutive days. This broke a 120 year record kept by the Central Weather Bureau. The weather has been so hot recently that it caused a man his life from heat stroke despite two days of treatment in the hospital, and the heat also buckled railway track in the section between Shu-lin and Ban-chiao.
Asphalt roads are radiating heat due to the hot weather. The weather was so hot that tracks heated up to 57.1 Celsius and buckled. Taiwan Railways resumed its service from Banqiao to Shulin after an emergency repair.

The heat made the railway track lengthen and thus slightly change direction.
In Taipei City, a 30-year-old man had serious heat stroke after being exposed to sun for two hours on the road. His body temperature reached 42 Celsius. Even though he was sent to the hospital, he died of multiple organ failure 2 days later. Doctors said people should beware of sweating in the hot weather because it can increase the risk of heart attack
==CHU PO-LING, Dir. TSGH Center for Prevention and Treatment of Heat Stroke==
People sweat more than usual in summer, resulting in dehydration. The blood thus gets thicker, making people with a narrowed coronary artery susceptible to heart attack.
Under the influence of the subtropical highs, the entire island has suffered from heat. Taipei saw temperatures over 38 Celsius for 3 consecutive days, the highest record in 120 years. The instant electricity consumption in Taiwan reached a peak of 35,987 MWh, which is the second highest in the history of electricity consumption.

In the following days, there will be an easterly wind blowing over the mountains and down onto the western plain. Therefore, the temperature may still reach 36 or 37 Celsius in the northern part of Taiwan.
A tropical depression has formed around the Philippine Sea. It is likely that it will develop into a mild typhoon. The outer circulation is expected to bring rain to the east over the weekend.
