President and Vice President both demonstrate their support for the domestic developed vaccine by having a Medigen jab. Meanwhile, 550k of custom-labeled BNT vaccines arrive in Taiwan.
Presenter: President Tsai Ing-wen and Vice President William Lai received their second doses of Medigen vaccines on the 30, with the first batch of 550,000 custom-labeled BNT doses arriving in Taiwan on the same day.
President Tsai Ing-wen immediately sat down after registration and consultation procedures for her injection. After the President was vaccinated, she pointed the yellow card to the camera showing her second dose of Medigen vaccine has been administered. Vice President William Lai subsequently completed his second shot of Medigen vaccine. Meanwhile, the first batch of 550,000 doses of Pfizer BNT vaccine with the "customized" label purchased by the Yongling Foundation, Foxconn, and Tzu Chi arrived in Taiwan during dawn on the 30th.
Chen Shih-chung, Commander, Central Epidemic Command Center:”We were expecting to start administering the Pfizer BNT vaccines on October 6th, but this has been pushed back for a few days. Just like everyone else, sometimes a set schedule is disrupted. Of course, everyone will have some opinions about this, but I want to report to everyone to say please wait for another 3 or 4 days.”
There are certain procedures to be completed to get this batch of BNT vaccines sealed and distributed. Chen Shih-chung asks the country’s citizens to wait for a while. He also emphasized that this batch of vaccines is packaged in accordance with foreign standards by the original manufacturer. The label is in English and there are no simplified Chinese characters. AZ and BNT vaccines will arrive in due time.
Chen Shih-chung, Commander, Central Epidemic Command Center:” The overall strategy is to have BNT as the first dose. Then Modena or AZ will be the second dose. This is the present arrangement. (What about Medigen) We probably will administer Medigen first and second doses in parallel.”
Foxconn founder Terry Guo wrote on his Facebook that 1.4 million doses of BNT vaccine have been produced and are waiting to be shipped. They will arrive in three separate batches. The first batch arrived on September 30th. Another 600,000 doses will arrive on October 1st and more than 200,000 doses are expected to arrive on October 4st. &&

中央流行疫情指揮中心指揮官 陳時中：「本來是預計他10月6號要打，你可能就要延個幾天，像大家有時候，有既定的行程、或既定的安排被打亂，那當然大家會有一些意見，不過也跟大家報告 就是說，麻煩大家多等個3、4天吧。」
由於這批BNT疫苗要完成封緘和配送，有一定的程序要完成，陳時中請國內再等一下，；也強調這批疫苗，是依照國外標準原廠包裝、標籤是英文、沒有簡體字，近期AZ、BNT疫苗到貨。

而鴻海創辦人郭台銘透過臉書表示，有140萬劑BNT疫苗生產完成等待起運，將會分三批陸續到貨；也強調，稍早抵達的55萬劑，就是第一批，10月1號，又有60多萬，以及預估10月4號，又會到貨20多萬，合計完成140萬劑的運送
