National Yang-Ming University and National Chiao Tung University will merge on Feb. 1. The new university will have nine campuses and have a student body of 17,000 and a teaching staff of 1,400. NCTU has already taken down its name plaque and NYMU also did so on Jan. 29. Both schools will keep one building with their original school's name for history.

We were the second graduating class. At that time, this area was empty. That area was the track and field. Later on, the track and field were moved up the mountain and these new buildings were built. Back then, we were called National Yang-Ming College of Medicine.
NYMU will merge with National Chiao Tung University on Feb. 1, with the blessings of alumni.
I hope the merged school can operate on an expanded basis and (the dentistry school) can be more comprehensive.
Both schools will be keeping one name plaque bearing their original names.
National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University will have a student body of 17,000 and a teaching staff of 1,400. Students from both schools formed a student association preparatory committee, the first of its kind in Taiwan, to protect student rights after the merger.
So, we're taking a look at and monitoring the course selection system, email system, integration of teams and club funding.
The committee says its goal is to strengthen student influence in school affairs so that new school policies can meet students' needs.
搶在拆除守仁樓前校銜名牌前半小時，呂小姐和38年前一起畢業的牙醫系同學，穿上醫師袍在國立陽明大學字樣前留下身影。
陽明大學牙醫系第二屆校友 呂小姐表示：「因為我們第二屆嘛，幾乎是像篳路藍縷一樣。當初這片是空的，這片根本就是運動場。多年以後，運動場搬到山上去，然後這些新的建築物，我們都當年是沒有的，而且當年，我們是叫做陽明醫學院。」
想到求學時的往事，仍有許多感觸，面對母校陽明和交大合併，校友們說，這是順著歷史潮流的發展，給予祝福。
陽明大學牙醫系第二屆校友 梁小姐表示：「希望合併以後，我們的格局更擴大，然後我們的院所，就是更完整。」
為兩校過往歷史與價值留下回憶，陽明保留校門口牌樓，交大保留博愛校門牌樓的校銜名牌。2月1號正式掛牌後，陽明交大將成為1萬7000多名學生，1400名老師的頂大。而兩校的學生會在宣布合併之前，預先成立學生會籌備委員會，為了確保在合校的過程中，不會損及學生們的權益，而這樣性質的學生會，也是全台首見。
陽明交大學生會籌備處委員 洪辰昊表示：「所以我們現在，像包含…像校內的選課系統等等，還有這個學校的校內電子信箱、跟校隊的整合、社團的補助等等，其實我們都有一直在持續在關心，持續的在追蹤。」
以維護學權為出發點，陽明交大學生會籌備處表示，未來將以增強學生在校務會議的影響力為目標，讓新學校做決策時，都能貼近學生訴求。
