NYE Celebrations Will Go Ahead as Scheduled? 北市跨年柯:依原則準備可能前一天說不辦

Taipei's new year's Eve concert has always been the focus of the island's celebrations. Taipei City Mayor Ko Wen-je said that the preparations are going as usual and the celebration might be livestreamed if there are more new cases in the coming week.

Despite the new domestic case of COVID-19, Taipei City Mayor Ko Wen-je says the city's New Year's Eve celebrations will go ahead as planned with central guidelines being observed, but it is possible they may be cancelled without warning.

I still lean towards maintaining "normal life," but the grass bends when the wind blows and we can respond to emergencies if we have to. We are going ahead with preparations for New Year's Eve as originally planned, but I may be telling you the celebrations have been cancelled the day before.

Ko also said one isolated case is a "political call," but the format of the celebration will be changed to a livestream if there are 15 new cases in Taipei in the next week. Taoyuan's New Year's Eve Mayday concert and New Year's Day morning walk are also on for now, but this may also change.

The New Year's Eve Mayday concert, countdown event at Qingpu, New Year's Day flagraising ceremony, and opening game of the new basketball season on Jan. 3 will all be supervised by the city.

Taoyuan City Mayor Cheng Wen-tsan says there won't be a souvenir zone at the concert and city inspectors will be on hand to make sure disease prevention guidelines are being followed. There will only be one entry point at the concert venue and maximum capacity has been set at 80 percent, or 50,000 people.

台北市長柯文哲表示：「我還是傾向，維持正常生活，但是風吹草動，有能力緊急應變。所以比方說，跨年晚會要不要辦？答案是按照要辦的去準備，但是我可能前一天，就跟你講說，不辦了！」

柯文哲表示，目前規劃是若台北市一週出現15例確診就停辦、改線上直播，那現在1例就是政治判斷。另外，桃園接下來大型活動也滿檔，五月天演唱會將在桃園棒球場舉辦，還有跨年晚會元旦健走等，桃園市長鄭文燦表示目前正常辦理，會再開會做滾動檢討。

桃園市長鄭文燦表示：「五月天這個跨年演唱，還有我們市政府青埔跨年，還有元旦升旗典禮，以及1月3號職籃開幕賽，這四個活動，我都分別請主辦單位，成立督導小組。」

鄭文燦說表示五月天演唱會取消販賣區，市府會由新聞處主責組成督導小組檢視各項防疫計畫。至於桃園跨年活動也將實施總量管制，以單一入口管制人流，最多不能超過8成容留量也就是5萬人，若疫情升溫，大型活動也不排除有停辦可能。
