Taichung's Rainbow Village was previously featured in a Lonely Planet travel guide. A recent inspection of 18 locations around the village found that seven had a slope of greater than 1 in 200. Taichung City's Cultural Affairs Bureau will organize another inspection to guarantee the safety of the village.

The team that manages Rainbow Village was not as optimistic. There are many cracks that are hidden by the colorful drawings, some of which have been reinforced by H-beams. The problems will have to be addressed to eliminate the risk of collapsing.
Some of the foundations have become hollow, and some have been reinforced with steel frames. We might have misgivings that because the walls are primarily made from mud, we are only treating the symptoms and not the cause.
Many walls are cracked and foundations have eroded. Buildings were reinforced with concrete last year. There are also crooked pillars. Chaoyang University of Technology previously measured the slope of pillars and walls, and found that seven out of 18 locations had a slope of greater than 1 in 200. Taichung's Cultural Affairs Bureau says it will organize another inspection and find a solution.

Lonely Planet previously featured Rainbow Village in a guidebook, and many international visitors drop by. It has remained a popular tourist attraction even during the disease prevention period, with more than 2,000 visitors on weekends and holidays. Although it is not classified as a cultural asset, the Cultural Affairs Bureau will allocate funds to ensure the safety of the village.

遊客 杜先生表示：「當然真有危險，真要保障啊！但是問題是好像還好啦！要不然就拆掉重建。」
不過經營團隊可就沒這麼樂觀，在彩繪巧妙遮掩下的，是一道道的裂痕，有的已經先用H鋼支撐結構，老屋面臨掏空、剝落，問題一天不解決，倒塌的風險就在。
彩虹文創公司設計師 林揚凱表示：「就是有部分的地基，它是掏空的現象，一些鋼架的部分，來做支撐的部分，我們可能會顧慮到，它本身因為是土牆的關係，那也有可能會是治標，不治本的這種狀況。」
彩虹眷村裡的屋舍，出現牆面龜裂、地基流失的問題，去年才用灌水泥補強，另外還有房舍柱子歪斜。朝陽科大曾做過柱子及牆面的傾斜度檢測，測量18處有高達7處，傾斜度大於1/200；台中市文化局表示，會再安排一次專家會勘，找出解決方案。
台中市文化局長 張大春表示：「那當然加固它，也要考慮到它整個的原貌，包括它彩繪的這個部分。那目前經費，因為我們要先…這禮拜，會先找專家來評估以後，經費的部分，才能出來。所以文化局會盡最大的力量，來維持我們整個彩虹村的一個安全。」
彩虹眷村曾受到國際知名旅遊指南推薦，常有國際遊客到訪，即使防疫期間，假日每天仍有二千多人次。雖然彩虹眷村不具備文資身分，但台中市文化局承諾，還是會以符合法規的文資條件編列預算，全力來搶救。
