The Yang Hui-ju Internet Army scandal has become the latest point of contention between the blue and green camps. Kuomintang presidential candidate Han Kuo-yu recently poked fun at himself by saying he and Democratic Progressive Party vice presidential candidate William Lai, as well as Taipei City Mayor Ko Wen-je, are the "three cyberbullied brothers." In response, Ko said he and Han's relationship would be good if Han hadn't decided to run.
Legislative Speaker Su Jia-chyuan, former Legislative Speaker Wang Jin-pyng, and Taipei City Mayor Ko Wen-je all attended the opening ceremony of the Taiwan Healthcare Expo on Dec. 5. They were not positioned together, so no interaction was seen among the men. Kuomintang presidential candidate Han Kuo-yu recently jokingly referred to himself, Democratic Progressive Party vice presidential candidate William Lai, and Taipei City Mayor Ko Wen-je as the "three cyberbullied brothers." When asked to comment, Ko said he's more innocent.
You know, I'm more… and I'm receiving criticism when I'm not even running for president. The two of them are running for office, so that is what you call a known risk. Look at me, I'm not running but I'm still being criticized. That's what it's like nowadays. If you stretch your neck out, you'll be hit until you see stars. (So, do you want to be his brother?) Honestly speaking, we had a pretty good relationship before he decided to run.
I absolutely support my party. As for Mr. Han, I've already said many times that I supported him running for mayor and support him doing a good job as mayor.
Wang was asked if he would share a stage with Ko. He responded that the affairs of Ko's Taiwan People's Party are its affairs, and sincere support is real support, not just sharing a stage. He added he will adhere to his own position and ideals.
Support is not limited to sharing a stage. Sometimes the people on the stage say things that are contradictory with what you believe.
(Ruan Jhao-syong said he's not a member of the Frank Hsieh faction. Is he distancing himself?) Ruan Jhao-syong is not a member of the Frank Hsieh faction? (He said there's no longer a Hsieh faction.) That's right. It's a fact that the entire faction withered away after Frank Hsieh left Taiwan.
The issue of Democratic Progressive Party factions has come under scrutiny due to the Yang Hui-ju Internet Army scandal. Ko said the Frank Hsieh faction has already withered away, while TPP legislator-at-large candidate Tsai Pi-ju said during a radio interview that New Power Party Legislator Huang Kuo-chang won't get elected and urged everyone to vote for the TPP instead. Ko said it wasn't necessary for Tsai to say this, and he believes the risks are too great with the NPP's election strategies.
