Murder Case Suspect Repatriated from Philippines|永和分屍案主嫌引渡回台 最怕被判死刑

One Israeli suspect who was allegedly involved in a brutal dismembering case has been arrested in the Philippines and was repatriated to Taiwan on Sept. 17, which is also the first instance of Taiwan-Philippines cooperation to repatriate a non-Taiwanese suspect.

We were able to smoothly apprehend the suspect thanks to the perseverance of our investigation task force and the Philippine police's full assistance. We are holding him under the arrest warrant issued by the New Taipei District Prosecutors Office. Following the interrogation, the task force will follow up with the explanations.

The suspect was escorted by four members of the Criminal Investigation Bureau's Special Task Unit. As Taiwan and the Philippines do not have an extradition treaty, the Philippines first ordered to deport the suspect, who then was detained on the place by Taiwan's law enforecment officials. Oren Shlomo Mayer, said to be a drug dealer, fled to the Philippines after he was accused of chopping up and dumping in a river of the body of a 43-year-old Canadian English teacher in Taiwan.
