The 2018 Summer Youth Olympic Games opened in Argentina on Oct. 7 Taiwan time. Chinese Taipei's group of athletes is the largest ever, with 59 athletes competing in table tennis, roller skating, swimming, and 16 other sports. They will be competing against over 4,000 athletes from 205 countries around the world. They hope to surpass Chinese Taipei's best-ever record, achieved at the last Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing, of three gold medals, five silver medals and three bronze medals.

The opening ceremony of the 2018 Summer Youth Olympic Games took place on the 6th in Buenos Aires at the city's famed Obelisk. Everyone enjoyed the carnival-like atmosphere.

Over 4,000 athletes from 206 countries are competing in the games.

Chinese Taipei sent 59 athletes between the ages of 15 and 18. This is its largest contingent ever.

Known as Taiwan's fastest male, Yang Chun-han won bronze at the Nanjing Youth Olympics in 2014. The torch was passed from athlete to athlete to finally judo athlete Paula Pareto and sailor Santiago Lange, who lit the cauldron to officially ring in the games. The games will close on the 18th.

We all remember the courage the Wild Boars displayed during those 17 days they were trapped in the cave. They demonstrated the importance and value of sports.

The Thai football team Wild Boars made headlines in June after its coach and players got trapped in a cave in northern Thailand. A different kind of friendly match was held on the day after the opening ceremony.

The Wild Boars, wearing purple, faced the hometown Argentine team at Estadio Monumental, where the 1978 World Cup was played. All the Argentine players were under 13.

The game ended in a 3-3 draw. The Wild Boars will stay in Argentina until the 9th and are scheduled to meet with Argentine President Mauricio Macri. The team has also been invited to the U.S. for an interview with NBC next week.
