Ketamine factories are relatively rare in Taiwan. However, the Kaohsiung investigation bureau busted a factory at the beginning of this year, and it announced again today that it seized the largest Ketamine factory in history and has seized over 5,000 kilograms of products.
Officers from the investigation bureau carry fire arms and make their way into the sheet metal house. The five drug producers could not react fast enough and were all apprehended by the police.
After taking control of the scene, the officers found that the suspects are in possession of fire arms, including powerful rifles. Fortunately, there was no exchange of fire at the scene. The officers found raw materials and half-finished drug products, which total to more than 5,200 kilograms. The officers also found that the equipment for producing drugs are from Mainland China.
The suspects have taken advantage of different channels and purchased different types of equipment and raw material from China. They even learned techniques for making Ketamine from drug lords in China and set their production here in Taiwan.
Chinese authorities crack down very hard on drug activities. On the other hand, most of Taiwan's Ketamine are imported from other countries, the five suspects then decided to import equipment and techniques from China and set up shop in a remote rural area between Tainan and Chiayi County. They had planned to sell the drugs mostly to students.
They had originally planned to ship the product during the summer holidays. They wanted to sell to students who often hold different parties during the holidays.
Officials from the investigation bureau said that the group had begun their operation in May this year. And they were producing a newly developed type of Ketamine, of which the raw material has yet to be listed as control substance. Fortunately, the first batch of product was seized before it's shipped out, and the five suspects will be subject to legal proceedings.
