A 38-year-old Thai migrant worker has been in Taiwan for over three years. In his spare time, he uses a digital camera to document the scenery around the factory where he works. With Tainan as the backdrop in his photos, his pictures show the beauty of Tainan from a foreigner's perspective. let's take a look.
These photos were shot all over Tainan and document the city's scenic views, culture and daily life from a foreigner's perspective. They were taken by Thai migrant worker Suphachai, who is an avid photographer in his spare time.
You can learn a lot (living in Tainan), like at the (Yongkang) Thai temple or other places where there are a lot of people. Chimei Museum is another one. There are so many places where you can learn a lot of things. In Thailand, we can't do so much because it's so big and we don't have so much disposable income. Taiwan can make a small exhibition really special.
Suphachai has been in Taiwan for over three years and explores Tainan in his free time. As his 1,000-photo portfolio also sheds light on the life of migrant workers, local migrant worker advocacy group Nan Nan organized a photography exhibition for Suphachai to allow the public to see a different side of Tainan.
He is a migrant worker temporarily in Taiwan. On his days off, he explores Tainan. Whatever he sees, he sees from a very different perspective than long-time Tainan residents like us.
The group selected over 100 of Suphachai's photos for the exhibition. The photos offer a glimpse into the photographer's mind as well as the lives and culture of migrant workers in Taiwan.
