According to the latest measurements published by the management office of Jade Mountain, the mountain has increased in height by 63 cm, compared to the measured height of 3952.430 meters from more than a decade ago.

The exact height of Jade Mountain has long been a topic of debate. In 1925, a measurement based on leveling showed that the Jade Mountain's height was 3,962 meters. In 1957, the U.S. military's measurement showed a result of 3,997 meters. In 2003, the National Land Surveying and Mapping Center used the method of triangulation of their stations and measured the Jade Mountain's height to be 3,951.798 meters. The new measurement from 2017 shows that the mountain's height is 3,952.430 meters. Local geologists said that the changing results show that the plates underneath Taiwan are still very active. Jade Mountain currently is the highest natural peak in Taiwan and East Asia.
