An archery teacher has confessed to strangling one of his students and cut her body into seven pieces, after being rejected while trying to make sexual advances. After an extensive search of Yangmingshan, police were finally able to recover all seven bags containing the victim's body parts. The 37-year-old suspect has been detained and this is the third dismemberment case to occur in Taiwan just this month.

On June 18, a man surnamed Chen was detained on suspicion of killing and dismembering a woman surnamed Gao. Chen, who said he is a cultural worker, underwent questioning at Taipei District Court. A judge then determined he was a flight risk and ordered his detainment. Chen is believed to have killed Gao after she rejected his sexual advances. He has already confessed to the crime.

After two to three hours of questioning, he finally told the police that he was willing to tell the truth. He also expressed his hope that the police would be able to provide him with the assistance he needs under the law.

The location of the crime was Chen's studio at Huashan Prairie, which is located next to Huashan 1914 Creative Park. The "Unregulated Masses" collective previously borrowed Huashan Prairie from the Taipei City Government's Urban Regeneration Office for cultural and arts activities. The loan period was from November 2017 to the end of June 2018. The collective has issued a statement on the homicide, saying it had failed to inspect Chen's locked studio in order to respect his privacy, and it is willing to cooperate with the police.

Around February this year, it (Unregulated Masses) invited some creative teams to enter to allow more people to share in Huashan Prairie. Chen established a presence here at that time for cultural and arts purposes, saying he was willing to work with others to build the studios.

The office says when it agreed to loan out the prairie, it asked the collective to manage it well. In light of this tragedy, it has asked all activities to be temporarily halted. It may also end the loan agreement ahead of time.
