Railway Union: TRA Should Pay Bonus for Holiday Shifts|爭取出勤費未果 台鐵工會擬端午休

The Taiwan Railway Labor Union has been trying to convince their employer to pay bonus to those who work during the three major holidays in Taiwan. After a prolonged absence of response from the Taiwan Railway Administration, the union responded by encouraging the employees to take their days off during the coming Dragon Boat Festival as a way to protest.

The Taiwan Railway Labor Union believe the lack maintenance was the main cause of the recent train accident. The union said that the Taiwan Railway Administration (TRA) has been adding to the employees' workload every year, therefore they have been trying to convince the TRA to pay Spring Festival-level bonus to those who work during the Dragon Boat Festival, Tomb Sweeping Festival, and the Mid-Autumn Festival. However, the two sides have yet to reach an agreement.

Since the TRA refuses to pay bonus, our strategy is to ask the employees not to work during major festival. If we don't let our voices be heard, then those in charge would have no idea about our struggle. We are calling on our union members to take their holidays, as they are legally entitled to.

The union has sent out messages to encourage TRA employees to take their days off during the Dragon Boat Festival, as they are entitled to according to the Labor Standards Act. The union also said that they respect the choice of each individual employee on the matter. The TRA, on the other hand, said that they understand the union's demand. The TRA also said that they have scheduled an additional 194 trains during the upcoming festival, and that they will do their best to make sure all passengers receive proper service.

The TRA has its own set of rules when it comes to the application of off days. The TRA is currently operating quite well, and is happy to serve all passengers during the upcoming Dragon Boat Festival.

According to TRA's rules, employees must send in their applications one week prior to national holidays. The TRA said there are currently more employees who asked for days off during the upcoming Dragon Boat Festival than last year. The TRA said that its operation will not be affected, and that it will strengthen its communication with employees.
