A 45-year old man had felt dizzy when traveling through Kenting. Though he made a slight recovery after he tried to cool down, he fell unconscious in a nearby store 50 minutes later. He did not survive. The doctors say, the cause of death, was severe heat exhaustion.
The climbing temperature is posing increasing challenges to people's health. A 45-year old stopped by Kenting City's Eluanbi Park during his round island tour, and suddenly fell unconscious. He died soon after being taken to the hospital. The hospital determines the cause to be severe heat exhaustion.
He was making vomiting sounds, quite a few times.
50 minutes before he passed out, the deceased had dialed 119 for medical help due to dizziness. However, after slightly recovering by cooling down and some rest, he refused to go to the hospital. The doctors said it is rare to see men of such a relative young age die of heat exhaustion. The man however, had a history of high blood pressure and diabetes. This could have worsened the impact of heat stress.
When a person suffers from heat stroke, his or her chronic diseases could trigger other symptoms, such as cardiac dysrhythmia and even heart attack.
When a person experiences dizziness, excessive sweating, thirst, debilitation, and rising body temperature, he or she should cool down immediately. The Centers for Disease Control's statistics shows that by May 26, a total of 262 people visited hospitals across Taiwan for heat stroke and related issues, a whopping 76 percent increase compared to May of 2017. The CDC has called on the public to adopt necessary measures to prevent damage from the heat.
