If you have got lost in the Taipei Main Station, you are not alone. More than 540,000 travelers pass through the transportation hub each day. That's why a navigation app has been launched by the Taipei city government. There are also touchscreen devices in the parking lot, reminding forgetful drivers the location of the car.
There are touchscreen devices inside Taipei Station's parking lot. If you have forgotten where you parked your car, all you have to do is input your license plate number, and the computer will tell you exactly where your car is parked. Alternatively, you can download a smartphone app and type in your license plate number. The app will then navigate you to where your car is parked.
It's a bit like Google Maps, and it's very convenient.
Taipei Station has a ground level parking lot on its western side and two underground parking lots on its western and eastern sides with a total of 512 parking spaces. In the past, there were many complaints about the parking lots' unclear signs. After Taiwan Railways Administration outsourced their operation, the new operator set up a car locator system and optimized the lighting to make the spaces brighter. It also offered homeless people training courses to encourage them to stop staying in the parking lots.
You can't drive away homeless people, you have to help them. For example, the person in charge of our landscaping is a former homeless person.
Taipei Station is a major hub that is served by Taiwan Railways Administration, Taiwan High Speed Rail and several Taipei Metro lines. Every day, over 540,000 travelers pass through the station. There are also five underground shopping streets, and people often get lost there. The Taipei City Government has therefore launched a smartphone app specifically for navigating Taipei Station. Users can input their current locations and destinations, and the app will indicate possible routes. The Android version is already available, while the iOS version will be launched in mid-April.
