AVERAGE HOUSEHOLD NET WORTH REACHES NT$11.23M IN 2015|最新國富統計 家庭資產淨額1123萬元

According to the most recent National Wealth statistics released by the Directorate-General of Budget, Accounting and Statistics (DGBAS), in 2015 the average net worth per household in Taiwan was $NT11.23 million, an increase of NT$310,000 from 2014, the highest in five years. The average financial liability per household, meanwhile, was NT$1.7 million, an increase of NT$20,000 from the previous year with NT$1.64 million in loans. Scholars believe, if the biggest factors for the increase are the real estate and the stock market, it might not be beneficial to the country's economic development. It might instead, increase the gap between the rich and the poor in Taiwan. Therefore, some scholars suggest the government should increase the luxury tax or impose a new top income tax rate while providing more guidance and support for the middle and low-income households.
