ANIMAL RIGHTS GROUPS PROTEST MCDONALD'S USE OF BATTERY-CAGE EGGS|動保控台灣麥當勞 仍用"格子籠"雞蛋

On April 8, animal rights groups rallied in front of McDonald's headquarters in Taiwan to protest against McDonald's use of eggs from hens kept in small battery cages, also known as "cage eggs." They requested that the fast-food giant switch to animal welfare eggs to protect animal rights. McDonald's issued a statement, stating that it abides by Taiwan's food safety regulations and will evaluate whether or not to switch to the use of free-range eggs. ==PROTESTERS==　 McDonald, stop dodging! An animal welfare egg only costs NT$3 or NT$4 more. McDonald's annual sales revenue is NT$1.7 billion, and it spends more than NT$400 million on advertising annually, which can totally be used to purchase good eggs for its consumers. Facing the accusation, McDonald's issued a statement, stating that it abides by Taiwan's food safety regulations. As free-range eggs are still relatively low in supply, it will continue to weigh the options.
