Continued dry weather has sent Kaohsiung into the first phase of water rationing yesterday. Across the city, late night water pressure has been lowered, public fountains closed and street cleaning service suspended. The rationing will likely save 3 percent to 5 percent of water consumption.
Kaohsiung Water Resources Bureau is enforcing stage 1 water rationing. Starting 11pm of March 20 to 6am of March 21, water supply was depressurized. Water will not be supplied to government's fountains and sweepers.

A water tank carries about four to five tons of water. (What is that for?) That is for watering around the factory premise, prevent dust from flying up. The water tank makes circling around premises.
Gaoping River's stream level was measured at 19.3cm in mid-February, by March 20 the level was down to 16.4cm, not far from the 13cm two years ago when southern region suffered from water shortage.

We are currently supplying the treated water for use with no direct contact with human skin for cleaning, street sweeping, pots and plants.
Kaohsiung Weather Station forecasts two chances of raining on March 23 and 25, but the incoming precipitation won't help much. Water saving by general public is essential. Although stage 1 water rationing does not create impact to industrial usage, but many companies have started saving water for possible water shortage crisis.
