TRIAL RUN FOR TAOYUAN AIRPORT MRT ON FEB. 2|春節後試營運 機捷敲定3月2日上路

The MRT line between Taipei and Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport will begin trial runs Feb. 2, the first working day after the Lunar New Year holiday. Rides on the MRT will be free during the one-month trial period. After the official launch scheduled for March 2. The MRT line will operate daily from 6 am to 11 pm. A ticket between the line's two terminus stations will cost NT$160, and fares will be half price for the first month of regular services. ==HUANG LI-WEI, PTS reporter== After 20 years of waiting, the Airport MRT Line will officially commence after the Lunar New Year. The trial run offered to the press took roughly 36 minutes to go from Terminal 2 at the airport to Taipei Main Station. Direct trains to Terminal 2 will only stop at New Taipei Industrial Park and Chang Gung Memorial Hospital. After the official commencement, trains will be running every 10 minutes between 6 am and 11 pm. ==CHENG WEN-TSAN Taoyuan City Mayor== Pressure tests will be carried out in a limited time period with fixed number of passengers. The numbers of tourist group passengers and individual passengers are expected to reach 10-20,000 and 40,000 respectively. These are big numbers. The free trial operation will be provided to 112 tourist groups per day from February 2 to 15 and 20,000 individual passengers per day from February 16 to March 1. After the official commencement on March 2, tickets will be selling at half price for a month. ==CHEN KAI-LING Taoyuan Metro President== During the trial operation period, the service will run from 8 am to 4 pm. All stations on the line are open. Direct and indirect trains are all available. The ticketing system offers 10 languages. Passengers can use the in-town check-in service to check in their luggage and arrange their seats at Taipei Main Station. ==STAFF Taoyuan Metro== Place your luggage here. However, the in-town check-in service will not be available during the trial operation. Many people criticize the lack of pressure tests on the in-town check-in system, claiming that once the operation officially kicks off, it will be more complicated to solve the problems that surface. ==HSIAO TING-KO Taoyuan Airport Corp. President== Individual passengers can use the service during the trial operation after February 16. They can use it anytime because everything is all set. The government guaranteed that pressure tests had been conducted many times.
