DENGUE FEVER CLUSTER OUTBREAK IN TAIPEI'S NEIHU|北市內湖登革熱再添2疑例 與首例鄰居

Two days after the first dengue fever was confirmed in Taipei's Neihu District, 2 more cases were reported in the same neighborhood and were later confirmed. This is the first group infection case in Taipei since the dengue fever outbreak in the Shilin district 5 years ago. Environmental workers sprayed along ditches to kill mosquitoes. On Nov. 24, the first dengue fever case was confirmed in Taipei's Neihu District. Two days later, two suspected cases were reported in the same area. We will first use chemicals to kill them all. After that, we will do a thorough search, wiping them out in vegetable gardens, bushes, and any places they may hide. The two suspected of dengue fever were a couple. They lived only a few meters away from the first confirmed case. On Nov. 27, blood test results show that they were infected with dengue virus. The two infected with dengue virus were neighbors of the first confirmed case. Judging from the current situation, they were all infected at the same time. The CDC said the recent temperature is ideal for mosquitoes to reproduce and even in Taiwan's winter they can still breed. The CDC reminds the public to remove stagnant water in containers frequently to eliminate mosquito breeding. Moreover, if one suffers from fever, joint pain, headache, retro-orbital pain, muscle pain and rash, one should go to see a doctor as soon as possible.
