SURFERS HOPE TO REPRESENT TAIWAN IN TOKYO 2020|東京奧運增衝浪項目 我選手盼能參賽

Surfing is finally, officially, an Olympic sport, which will be added to the sporting menu of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. There are quite a few outstanding surfers in Taiwan, and three surfers in Pingtung County, won one gold and two silver medals in the international surfing competition this year. However, to be able to compete in the 2020 Olympics, they will need the government's help. Standing on the surfing board, Rory MacDonald is the men's champion to the 2016 Pingtung Jialeshuei International Surfing Competition. His sister Pan Mei-hsin is also a surfer. She won the silver medal in the women's competitions. This can easily be achieved by having small contests in the beaches, in the north, in the south and in the east of Taiwan on a larger scale. Some civil surfing organizations said, the three surfers may have a chance to represent Taiwan in the Olympics. However, surfing in Taiwan is not a popular sport, if the government can give surfers more support, maybe it stands a chance to win a gold medal in surfing competitions.
