"One fixed day off and one flexible rest day" This topic has been a huge debate in Taiwan. Ever since the disputed workweek bill passed the preliminary legislative review in early October, protests have emerged in multiple occasions. On November 1, student activists occupied DPP caucus whip Ker Chien-ming's office at the Legislative Yuan. And a day after that, around noon on November 2, which is yesterday, they stormed DPP headquarters and clashed with police. This time, instead of ordering the removal of the students, the DPP asked the police to let the students stay, who later left after 2 hours of peaceful protest. However, the students said they will continue to protest against the seven-day holiday cut.
Student activists stormed DPP headquarters and asked to meet with President Tsai Ing-wen. The students got into a scuffle with police as they attempted to break into DPP offices.
On November 1, student activists occupied DPP caucus whip Ker Chien-ming's office at the Legislative Yuan to protest the party's plans to cancel seven national holidays. On November 2, around noon, they stormed DPP headquarters. Twenty student protesters, representing student and labor groups nationwide, criticized the DPP for refusing to communicate with the public after Tsai took office. They also accused the DPP of ignoring the fact that young laborers are working under poor working conditions.

We workers and young people must break with the party which is on the same side with capitalists. We must draw a line between ourselves and them.
Besides asking Tsai to withdraw the seven-day holiday cut bill, student activists asked Tsai to respond to whether the amendments to the Labor Standards Act are in alignment with her campaign promise to lower working hours, raise wages and guarantee working rights of atypical workers. DPP spokesman made a statement after DPP's Central Standing Committee meeting was over.

We all have mixed feelings when our comrades took a different position.
However, since the DPP is now in office, the most important thing for us is to consider what is best for Taiwan. It is the ruling party's responsibility to propel the country forward.
The DPP said they respect different opinions from the students. However, student activists said they will continue to protest over the seven-day holiday cut and follow DPP members like shadows if they fail to withdraw the labor bill.
