37 STUDENTS COME DOWN WITH TYPE A FLU ON SCHOOL TRIP|台中黎明國中流感群聚感染 37學生確診

Taichung Municipal Li Ming Junior High School arranged a graduation trip for their third year students last Wednesday. Sadly 37 of them came down with sickness and fever during the trip. They were sent to the hospital, where they were found to be suffering from type A influenza. Parents suspect that the school arranged the students' influenza vaccines too late, that's why they all caught the flu. Taichung Municipal Li Ming Junior High School arranged a graduation trip for their third year students and on the first day many of the students started to feel ill with fever and aches symptomatic of influenza. The school took the students to hospital, where they were immediately quarantined. ==CHANG MEI-FENG Principal Taichung Municipal Li Ming Junior High School== We immediately gave them masks to wear and took them straight to hospital. We separated them from the others, even for meals. We made all the students on the bus wear masks and those with fevers sat separately from the others. However, the sickness continued to spread and each day more students fell ill. In line with procedure, the school reported influenza to the municipal education bureau. By Oct. 27, 37 students had fallen ill and been diagnosed with type A influenza. Then school itself announced the illness and separated students. ==STUDENT Taichung Municipal Li Ming Junior High School== There are lots in the third grade who went on the graduation trip so there are more who are ill than in the first grade, where its not too bad. 335 students from the school went on the graduation trip and over 10 percent fell ill. Some parents suspect that this is because the school left it too late for the students to have the flu vaccine. ==LIN WAN-CHEN Taichung City Govt. Health Bureau Disease Control Division Head== This year 21 hospitals offered the vaccine at the same time in various districts so they would have gone to have the vaccine on a set date. Taichung City Govt. Health Bureau said that a schools undergo group vaccination so each must go according to an arrangement, however it was true that there was a lack of manpower and the vaccination program in Taichung would not be complete until Nov. 20. TRANSLATED BY：CLARE LEAR 台中市黎明國中的畢業旅行，學生利用晚上的時間一起高興的幫同學慶生，但才第一天行程，就有許多名學生出現發燒、身體痠痛等流感症狀，校方立即帶學生就醫，也馬上進行隔離。 ==台中市黎明國中校長 張梅鳳== 包括馬上戴上口罩 送醫院 然後再來就是住房隔離 用餐隔離 然後在行車部分上面 在全車的學生我們都讓他戴口罩 也讓發燒的同學 在行車的車廂裡面 我們也做區域的隔離 不過疫情已經擴散，連續數日都有學生發病，校方根據流程通報到教育局，直到27號一共有37名學生確診罹患A型流感，校內也加強宣導、隔離。 ==黎明國中學生== 三年級很多 因為三年級去畢旅 所以很多人得流感 就三年級比較多 一年級還好 黎明國中這次畢業旅行共有335名學生參加，超過一成的學生遭感染，有家長質疑，是因為學校太晚施打公費流感疫苗，才會造成群聚感染。 ==台中市衛生局疾管科長 林宛蓁== 今年的話 就是委給21家的醫院來施打 在各地區各區同步來執行 所以他們會依照排定的日期 來做施打這樣 衛生局表示，因為學校都是集體接種，所以各校必須依照順序，但人力不足是事實，預計要到11月20號，才將完成台中市所有國中小的疫苗施打。 記者 邱植培 彭煥群 台中報導
