PINE GARDEN VIDEO TOUR WINS BEST TV DOCUMENTARY AWARD|花蓮松園別館導覽片 獲葡影展紀錄片獎

A short film about Hualien's historic building "Pine Garden", participated in this year's International Tourism Film Festival in Portugal. 301 films from 52 countries took part and Taiwan won the Best Television Documentary title. Unfortunately, due to lack of funding, the film production unit may not actually be able to go to the award ceremony. To promote tourism, in 2013, Hualien County Cultural Affairs Bureau, commissioned a private production company to produce a video guide on the historic Pine Garden building. The film won the best television documentary award in this year's International Tourism Film Festival in Portugal. The team that produced this tour guide was the Hualien Long Da Digital Audio and Video Company. In 2015 it also won, for its video on Hualien's Ji An Ching Xiu Yuan which won the Best Religious Travel Award at the Portugal International Tourism Film Festival. ==WANG CHUN-CHIEH, Hualien Long Da Digital Audio and Video Company== Before the kamikaze pilots went on their missions, they spent their last night here drinking. This background story attracted the interest of many of the judges. During the period of the Japanese rule, the kamikaze commandos lived in the Pine Garden building; with this as the background story, the company won the best television documentary award. The production team stressed that the Pine Garden video's budget was only around NT$100,000 including script, film clips, animation and production, so there was not enough funding to go to Portugal to accept the award. The Portuguese International Tourism Film Festival features 301 films from 52 countries. If Taiwan cannot go to the awards, it will affect exposure on the world stage.
