Over two thousand FCFC workers marched to the Changhua County Government , accusing it of intentionally shutting down the company. The protesters had several clashes with the police, as they attempted to enter County Hall. Over two thousand Formosa Chemicals Fiber Corporation (FCFC) workers and their families protested at the Changhua County Government. They believe the county government purposely denied extending the operation permits for heat and power cogeneration boilers, which is equivalent to shutting down the business. FCFC workers said they are losing the means to support their livelihoods. ==MR. CHIANG, Worker, Formosa Chemicals Fiber Corp.== If FCFC is a legal corporation, why can't we continue our operation? In fact, both my wife and I have worked for the corporation, so we suffered from even more pressure, the pressure is double for us. ==MR. HUNG, Formosa Chemicals Fiber Corp.== FCFC is stopping its operation, we can't live without the job. Therefore we come to protest. Many protesters have worked at FCFC for many years, now they are about to lose their jobs. The protesters had clashes with the police. On the other hand, FCFC is seeking for provisional disposition from the Taichung High Court, in hope to have boilers continued for operations. ==YU, CHEN-TE, Formosa Chemicals Fibre Corp.== Our heat and power cogeneration boilers are the models for all in Taiwan. The Minister of the Ministry of Economic Affairs today said, the boilers can pass the most demanding environmental standards. And we are experiencing illegal and unreasonable treatment from the county government. We will fight to protect our rights. The court judge ruled that the provisional disposition requires urgency and necessity, since the M16 boilers already had stopped for its operation, the two conditions do not exist. Therefore the judge had asked FCFC and county government to submit more detailed documents and evidence for the next court date set in two weeks time.
