JIADONG RESIDENTS START CLEAN-UP, MILITARY HELP|佳冬羌園淹水退去 沿海住戶多未復電

In Pingtung County, Jiadong Township's Chiangyuan district was flooded particularly badly. The waters receded in the early hours of yesterday morning. Residents started the clean-up process. However, as they have no electricity and no running water, they had to use water from ground springs. Military personnel assisted them in the clean-up and with disinfecting the area. However, households in much Pingtung's coastal areas are still without electricity. Some parts of Pingtung's Linbian Provincial Highway were still flooded yesterday making it hard for traffic to get through. Fortunately, there is no housing on this section of the road. Yesterday flooding receded in Chiangyuan, after extra pumps were put to work. When residents awoke yesterday morning they were able to start cleaning up their homes. At its deepest the water was up to an adult's chest and furniture and household appliances all floated in the flood. ==RESIDENT Yanwen Village Jiadong Township== These things and glass bottles were all floating about here, when we left, they came floating along behind us, now everything's gone. The room is full of smelly mud and the whole family has mobilised to clean up. They hope to finish as soon as possible, but without water they can only use water from ground wells and carry water back home or use water from drainage ditches. ==RESIDENT Yanwen Village Jiadong Township== There's no electricity and no water, we just have to use the water that's here, it makes it a bit harder to clean up. Apart from cleaning up their house, the residents have to throw away a lot of water-sodden items, leaving large piles of rubbish outside their homes. The military have been helping to clean up and disinfect, but to clean properly they need electricity and water. There are still many coastal areas of Pingtung, including Jiadong, Xinyuan and Fangliao that are still without electricity. TRANSLATED BY：CLARE LEAR 屏東佳冬鄉羌園地區的淹水在今天凌晨終於退去，居民一早醒來發現屋子裡不淹水了，趕緊進行打掃，不過因為沒水沒電，居民只好利用地勢低窪形成的湧泉來打掃，國軍也進駐協助清理和消毒，但屏東沿海目前仍是未復電戶數最多的地區。 車輛通過濺起比車高的水花，屏東林邊省道部分路段，今天還積水難退，幸好附近沒有住家，也不影響車輛通行，而原本前一天還淹水的佳冬羌園地區，因為加派抽水機，居民一覺醒來，發現水退了，趕緊整理凌亂的屋子，地勢最低漥的地方，當時水淹到成人的胸口，家俱家電都浮起來了。 ==佳冬鄉焰塭村村民== 這些東西 和玻璃瓶 都在這裡漂 我們一出去 竟跟著我們流出去了 都流光了 滿屋子泥濘，還發出臭味，家裡所有人都動起來清理，希望快點把家裡洗乾淨，但是因為沒水沒電，居民只能利用地勢低漥形成的湧泉，大老遠去抬水，或者收集水溝湧出的水。 ==佳冬鄉焰塭村村民== 現在又沒電沒水可以洗 也是要用 這裡有水 用這個水來沖 比較辛苦而己 除了清洗房子，也有很多東西泡水必須丟掉，堆在家戶門口的垃圾越來越高，國軍也趕來幫忙清理和消毒，但要完全清理乾淨，還是需要恢復水電，而包括佳冬、新園、枋寮等沿海地區，仍是屏東最多沒復電的地區。 記者 王介村 孟昭權 屏東報導
