TAINAN LAUNCHES PUBLIC BICYCLE SYSTEM|台南公共自行車T-Bike上路 10站280輛先行

Tainan City's public bicycle system, "T-bike," was officially opened on Aug 8, with ten rental stations and a total of 280 T-bikes now available for public use. According to current expansion plans, the number of rental stations will be increased to 40, and bikes to 1,500 by March next year. ==Ribbon Cutting== Please cut the ribbon. Tainan City public bicycles are now available for rent. Let's enjoy T-bikes Tainan City Mayor William Lai led guests and rode on a T-bike to the Chimei Museum, to initiate the use of public bicycles. The city government has set two main areas, the Chimei Musem and the Tainan Science Park, with ten rental stations of 280 T-bikes. Before next March, the rental points will be increased to 50, with 1,500 T-bikes. ==CHANG CHENG-YUAN, Director of Bureau of Transportation, Tainan City Government== The second phase has already contracted out. Before March of next year, we will have additional 40 rental points, with a total of nearly 1,500 T-bikes serving users in greater Tainan area. Tainan T-bike is a project incorporated industry, government and academic, from researching, developing, designing, and manufacturing. T-bikes provide services for the last mile of public transportation, because rental points were set to fully connect with existing public transportation system. ==WILLIAM LAI, Tainan Mayor=== We can solve the last mile in public transport. We further hope to make Tainan a low-carbon city, and fulfill our duty as a global village. We hope this would boost Tainan tourism to a higher level. In addition, the T-bike rental station at Metropolitan Park also offers free rental for kid's bicycles. Now they can simply use citizen's cards or credit cards to rent T-bikes. Citizens and visitors can try out the new T-bikes.
