Typhoon Muifa brought heavy rain to cities and counties in northern Taiwan causing landslides and landslips.
Typhoon Muifa brought heavy rain to the east and northeast coast, causing landslides and large rocks to fall on mountainous routes along Provincial Highway 7, otherwise known as the Northern Cross-Island Highway. First Maintenance Office's Fuxing Construction Branch sent out four teams of workforce and machines to clear the road from its debris, watching the road at all times to keep it open for traffic.
Construction Worker: “We discovered landslides during our patrol this morning and we cleared the road right away. We are in the middle of cleaning right now and we'll open the roads up after we're done.”
The office reported an accumulated rainfall of over 500 millimeters along the Northern Cross-Island Highway and landslides, fallen rocks, and trees at various sections. Traffic was halted for some time passing through Fuxing District in Taoyuan at Gaopo, Gaoyi, Daman, and Sileng sections.
Fan Yu-sheng, Head, Fuxing Construction Branch, First Maintenance Office: “Typhoon Muifa brought extremely heavy rain this time, especially along the Northern Cross-Island Highway. Rainfall accumulation in the Gaoyi area reached 500 millimeters. Typhoon Muifa brought the most damage so far in Taiwan this year.”
The highway section between Balung and Minchi was closed starting the night of the 12th due to the roads being narrower with a higher danger of landslides. Highway authorities also reported landslides on Jianshi Township's Hsinchu Route 60 on the morning of the 13th. Traffic remains in one direction only and authorities are working hard on clearing the way.
碎石掉落、坍方，受梅花颱風和外圍環流帶來豐沛雨勢影響，台7線山區道路傳出多處零星災情，第一區養護工程處復興工務段事前派了4組人力和機具，隨時巡查清理、保持道路暢通。
施工人員指出：「我們早上巡路的時候，就發現這邊有坍方，會即時處理，現在就是在清，等下清完就可以通了。」
養工處復興工務段表示，梅花颱風來襲雨勢驚人，在北橫公路累積超過500毫米雨量，造成坍方、落石、樹倒等多處災情，29.4K高坡、41.3K高義、50.9K大曼、58.6K四稜，都曾因坍方交通中斷，另外也還有7、8處小坍方還有落石。
第一區養護工程處復興工務段長范又升表示：「這次梅花颱風帶來驚人的雨勢，尤其在北橫公路上，甚至高義地區有達到500毫米，所以是整個今（2022）年以來，算是產生最多災情的一個颱風。」
復興工務段針對氣象情資評估，考量巴陵到明池（47K至65K）路幅狹窄，邊坡含水量高，容易發生災情造成受困，特別在12日晚間7時起實施預警性封路，而這波風雨也導致新竹尖石鄉竹60線部分路段，在13日上午發生落石坍方，一度阻斷通行，初步排除後，暫時只能單向通車，目前仍在設法盡快搶修當中。
