An examinee brought his pet sugar glider into the designated exam center during the General Scholastic Ability Test, but the animal escaped from his backpack and jumped onto another examinee and caused quite a commotion during the test.
With giant wide-set eyes and long fluffy tails, sugar gliders are palm-size possums that are closely related to kangaroos. Its cuteness has attracted many people to acquire them as pets. Despite people's fondness for the animal, its presence stirred up quite a commotion during the General Scholastic Ability Test (GSAT) this year. An examinee put his pet sugar glider in his backpack and brought it along into the designated examination center. Sixty minutes into the examination time, the pet somehow found its way out of the backpack and landed on a nearby examinee, who screamed loudly and fell to the ground. The incident caused a commotion at the scene.
The College Entrance Examination Center (CEEC) confirmed that the incident was the first time an examinee has brought an animal into the examination center and affected others. After evaluation, the Examination Affairs Center decided to extend the examination time by five minutes on January 22. The College Entrance Examination Board (CEEB) will convene a meeting on February 18 and discuss how to handle the examinee who brought the pet sugar glider to the examination center. According to Article Five of the CEEC's Violation Measures, an examinee who disturbed order or influenced others during the examination period, would be deducted one point from the scaled score. Article Eight also stipulates that an examinee cannot place items banned from bringing into the examination center on the temporary storage area. A point will also be deducted if the examinee violated the aforementioned rule. Whether compensation will be made to the examinee who was shocked by the sugar glider, the CEEC said if the student did file a complaint, then the CEEB will carry out further deliberation.
