The Changhua Tianzhong Marathon has been marred by controversy as a runner used her son as a bib mule and won the game.
The woman wearing yellow on the left side of the stage won the Women's A Group in the half marathon event of this year's Changhua Tianzhong Marathon. After the medal ceremony, the organizer determined that this woman had not actually run the race.
I realized that the time of the person on the stage with me was only a bit shorter than my time, about one second faster, but I didn't see her during the entire race, from start to finish. I began to have doubts, so I took a look and found that there was a man running while wearing her bib.
The organizer examined data from check-in points and photos from the finish line. It found that a man wearing black was wearing the bib with the name of the eventual winner. Men cannot compete in women's races. It was determined that the man was the woman's son, and she had used him as a bib mule. It disqualified her win and banned them from competing for one year.
We hold an electronic and manual roll call at the start, and every year there are a couple of cases of bib mules or runners with two chips. All these cases are reported.
The woman who cheated refused to comment. The woman who finished in second place has been named as the winner. The organizer said runners should be responsible for producing their own results. It added that even though there are often cases of people running in place of others, the majority occur because someone drops out at the last minute and gives their place to a friend. If this is the case, then the organizer should be notified in advance.
