A 24 year-old Malaysian student surnamed Chung studying at Chang Jung University was found dead in Kaohsiung after going missing for several days. The police arrested a suspect surnamed Liang on the night of Oct. 29 and have connected him to a case involving the attempted kidnapping of another female student last month.

Police believe this man, surnamed Liang, kidnapped a Chang Jung Christian University student on the 28th and dumped her body in Kaohsiung after asphyxiating her. Friends of the victim reported the Malaysian student, surnamed Chung, missing after last speaking with her around 8:45 p.m. on the 28th.
Guiren Police identified Liang as the primary suspect and arrested him on the 29th. Police believe Liang was also involved in the attempted kidnapping of another female student last month.
Another case on Sept. 30, that female student filed a police report yesterday. The suspect admitted to committing the crime during questioning. Based on what we know, the suspect has so far been involved in two cases like this.
CJCU students are irate, saying road lights around the area where Liang kidnapped Chung are rarely turned on and complaints to the school fall on deaf ears.
There needs to be more campus patrols, and the road lights have to be turned on. Saving money can't be the top priority.
It's really dark without lights. They only turn on the lights after something happens. They should be kept on in the first place.

After confirming Chung met with foul play, school officials notified her parents of her death and helped them with travel arrangements. The Central Epidemic Command Center will waive the 14-day quarantine period for the family.

梁姓嫌犯由警方帶進分局裡頭，還一度軟腳，他涉嫌在28號隨機擄人，將長榮大學一名馬來西亞籍的女大生勒斃後，帶到高雄棄屍。28號晚間，女大生的同學上網協尋，指稱鐘姓女學生8時45分和她通完電話後就失蹤，也已經報警希望大家提供相關線索。歸仁分局獲報後展開追查，後經調閱車牌辨識系統及相關跡證，才發現梁姓男子行跡可疑，前往高雄阿蓮逮人到案。而經過警方深入調查，梁嫌上月也曾擄另一名女學生未遂。
台南市警歸仁分局長 楊慶裕表示：「9月30號那個女學生，昨天晚上有來報案。經過訊問，那個嫌犯，初步也承認，看起來這個嫌犯。應該到現在為止，應該是有兩次的這樣行為。」
而這命案發生後引起學生強烈的憤怒，認為台鐵橋下入夜後很暗，路燈經常不開，跟學校反應也沒改善。
長榮大學學生表示：「還是要加強巡邏，那個路燈真的要開，不要說為了要省電，就不開。」

長榮大學秘書長 管美燕表示：「這是我們最最不樂見的，我們也通知了學生家長，家屬也是悲痛萬分。我們也會再跟我們社區，進行一個社區的聯訪，未來也會定期舉行，相關的安全演練。」
校方表示，昨日整天即跟警方保持聯繫，一直到晚間九點多發現女學生遺體，確定已遇害，校方管理高層隨即返校開會，並且通知女學生家長並協助機票訂購和防疫安排等。而台灣正值防疫期間，中央流行疫情指揮中心也表示確認可採取類"外交泡泡"模式，免除居家檢疫14天的規定來台協助。
