Six and a half years ago during the Sunflower Student movement, some sit-in protesters were injured and angrily sued. In September 2020, The Taipei District court found then-President Ma Ying-jeou, then-Premier Jiang Yi-hua and two others not guilty. The private prosecutor has decided not to appeal after discussing it with their team.
Ma Ying-jeou's final stop will be the history museum, because he is the best lesson for being anti-democracy and anti-Taiwan freedom. The decision to sue Ma and Jiang was an extremely courageous move made by us, a group of free people in Taiwan. Only by believing in the value of democracy and freedom can we continue to protect Taiwanese society. I want to thank all of the lawyers that helped us in our long fight.
Accompanied by representatives from the Judicial Reform Foundation and volunteer lawyer team, the private prosecutor held a press conference and stressed that there would be no appeal. He said the decision was made not because they agreed with the court's ruling, but to demonstrate their disappointment in justice.
