Actor Wu Pong-fong has died at the age of 55. His agent says he died at home on May 24. His friends were deeply saddened to hear the news.
During a guest appearance on a TV program in 2018, actor Wu Pong-fong said he chose acting not for fame, but because it was his passion. One year later, he won his third Golden Bell Award and his second Best Actor in a Miniseries or Television Film Award. Wu died at home on the 24th.
Wu Pong-fong died peacefully at home around 4 or 5 p.m. on Sunday.
Wu's agent says the actor lived alone and had plans with family on the 24th. When his family arrived at his home, they found him unresponsive. One night earlier, Wu posted and interacted with fans on Facebook. Those around him were deeply saddened to hear of his passing.
It was so sudden. I can't accept his death.
Wu was a well-respected character actor. He won the Golden Bell Award for Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal of a Taoist monk in the film "Seven Days in Heaven."
