As the anti-extradition protests in Hong Kong continue, civil groups in Taiwan will hold a "Taiwan-Hong Kong March" on September 29th. They're asking the Hong Kong government to respond immediately to the protesters' "five demands" and guarantee that Hong Kong students who were formerly arrested during the protests can still come to Taiwan to study. They also asked the Taiwanese government to formulate measures for those who seek political asylum status in Taiwan.
Civil groups in Taiwan have joined together and requested the Hong Kong government to respond to protesters' "five demands". They have also announced to hold a protest outside of the Legislative Yuan on September 29th to support Hong Kong people.
Totalitarian country has not only violated the human rights of Hong Kong, it has also violated the basic human rights of Taiwanese people. Therefore all citizens of Taiwan should step up on September 29th to tell the totalitarian government that we oppose "one country, two system" and the one-China Peace Agreement.
The civil groups pointed out the Hong Kong government had promised a full withdrawal of the bill, but the protesters insisted the government has to implement all "five demands-not one less". The reason being the Hong Kong people cannot use their votes to influence the government's decision since nearly half of the seats in the legislature are not popularly elected.
It is still undecided that if the legislative councils get to vote on a motion. If it is needed, then the Pro-Beijing Camp who have the majority seats could boycott the motion. The anti-extradition protest, the movement itself had explained clearly. After so much suffering, we still hold our grounds and insist that the five demands to be met.
China is exporting totalitarianism to the world with Hong Kong and Taiwan being affected first. China is claiming sovereignty in these two areas. We need to step up and support Hong Kong and oppose totalitarianism.
Other than calling on the Hong Kong government to respond to the five demands and guarantee the Hong Kong students who were formerly arrested during the protest can still come to Taiwan to study. Civil groups also reminded the Taiwan government to refuse the One-China Peace Agreement. The groups urged the government to formulate measures for those who seek political asylum status in Taiwan. In just 4 short days, more than 100 groups had signed the petition to support Hong Kong.
