Former President Chen Shui-bian was released on medical parole four years ago and his bank accounts containing NT$ 300 million in Switzerland has been frozen for 11 years. Justice Minister Tsai Ching-hsiang admitted the ministry had received letters from Switzerland asking for a progress report on Chen's cases. In related news, Chen recently announced that he will attend a fundraising banquet, which is stepping on the bottom line of the terms of his release from Taichung Prison. Pan-blue lawmakers are saying his medical parole cannot be extended an 18th time.
Four years ago, former President Chen Shui-bian's personal medical team decided he was suffering from multiple severe physical and mental conditions. Since then, he has received 17 extensions on his medical parole. Chen recently livestreamed himself talking on Facebook. During a legislative interpellation on the 1st, Justice Minister Tsai Ching-hsiang admitted a Swiss bank that froze NT$ 300 million belonging to Chen 11 years ago after Chen was arraigned on multiple counts of corruption recently requested a progress report on Chen's case.
The Ministry of Justice merely received a letter from Switzerland asking (for an update). We have passed the letter on to the relevant agency for processing.
Pan-blue lawmakers say Chen is trampling on the terms of his release from Taichung Prison with his recent announcement that he would attend a fundraising banquet on the 9th and his medical parole should not be extended an 18th time. They also said President Tsai Ing-wen should just grant Chen a special pardon so he can stop making a mockery of Taiwan's judicial system.
(If you refuse to handle this, we can only treat him to a cup of coffee ourselves) Will he apply? (What if he doesn't apply?) He won't not apply. If he doesn't apply...we will see if he violated (the terms of his release). What if he did? Then we will proceed in accordance with the law.
Extensions are granted based on his doctors' medical assessment. We respect the professionalism of his doctors.
Everything Ah-bian is doing right now falls within the scope of freedom of speech. It's probably that there are people with "presidential primary syndrome." People that are running in a presidential primary are using Ah-bian as a pawn. That's all there is to it.
In response, Ker Chien-ming criticized pan-blue lawmakers for being "overly aggressive." Chen's son, Kaohsiung City Councilor Chen Chih-chung, also responded saying Switzerland's "confusion" is a huge slap in the face of the now-defunct Special Investigation Division because it was the SID that told Switzerland there were issues with the funds. With all of Chen's corruption cases on hold indefinitely, the junior Chen claimed his father is being used as a pawn to affect the upcoming presidential elections.

法務部長 蔡清祥表示：「法務部只是收到瑞士那一方面的，一個來文，來問，我們把這個文轉給相關的機關來處理。」
藍委認為，陳水扁已經預告，9號會出席募款餐會，質疑他保外就醫4年，不時大踩中監四不底線，要求不能再第18次展延，還反諷，不然就請總統蔡英文乾脆特赦。
國民黨立委 沈智慧 vs. 法務部長 蔡清祥表示：「（如果你不予處理，我們只好自己去請他喝咖啡。）要參加，他要申請嘛！（那不申請呢？）不會不申請啦！不申請當然就，我們就看他有沒有違背嗎？（違背呢？）違背就依法嘛！」
矯正署長 黃俊棠表示：「展延是按照醫師的一個評估啦！我們尊重醫療專業啦！」
民進黨立院黨團總召 柯建銘表示：「阿扁現在所有行為，應該屬於言論自由的範疇，應該是有的人初選症候群，大家要初選，就拿阿扁，拿阿扁來消費一下，就是這個如此嘛！」
對於藍委頻頻追問扁案，柯建銘質詢時，回批藍營是咄咄逼人，而陳水扁兒子丶高雄市議員陳致中，也提出3項回應，強調瑞士的困惑，其實是重重打臉當年的特偵組，因為一開始，就是特偵組跟瑞士保證，這些款項都大有問題，結果案子卻辦的虎頭蛇尾，也痛批大選年，總是會有有心人士，操作扁案。
