150,000 Visit Sea of Flowers in Xinshe in First 4 Days|新社花海登場 開幕4天吸引15萬人次

The Sea of Flowers in Xinshe recently kicked off and the event has so far attracted more than 150,000 visitors. A special feature of this year's event is edible landscape. However, due to the concurrent Taichung World Flora Expo, the number of visitors has dropped by about 10,000 year-on-year, whereas the total visitors to the Taichung events have not seen any change.

The Sea of Flowers in Xinshe recently kicked off. Most of the incoming tourists are from central Taiwan. The public said that the event in Xinshe makes them feel relaxed, whereas the Taichung World Flora Expo, brought them much amazement and surprise. The public said that they'd choose the flora expo if there's only time for one event.

The most important event is the Taichung World Flora Expo. (There aren't a lot of people at the Xinshe event), I wonder if the Flora Expo steals its thunder. For a person my age, I think both events offer a really good experience.

The Taiwan Seed Improvement and Propagation Station, of the Council of Agriculture, is the host of the Xinshe flower show. It said that the show occupies an area measuring 50 hectares, and other than offering a beautiful scenery, the event also features "edible landscape" as an effort to promote food agriculture education. The event also features Hakka culture symbols. However, due to the concurrent Taichung World Flora Expo, the total number of people visiting the event in Xinshe is about 10,000 less than that of last year.

(In the four days since its opening) the event has attracted about 150,000 visitors. Around the same period last year, the event had attracted around 160,000. No matter which flower show it is, we are all working together.

The organizers of the Taichung World Flora Expo said that, after the announcement of free entrance for all Taichung City residents, the number of visitors coming during the holidays dropped by around 20,000 to 30,000. However, after the flower show in Xinshe kicked off on December 1, the number of incoming visitors to the Flora Expo did not see any decrease. The two events seem to be complementary of one another.

After the Sea of Flowers in Xinshe kicked off on December 1, there is so far no effect on the number of incoming visitors to the Flora Expo. The two events seem to be complementary since we saw a slight increase in visitors after the event in Xinshe began.

The Taiwan Seed Improvement and Propagation Station said that though the number of visitors heading to the Xinshe flower show might be affected by the World Flora expo, the two event will eventually bring more visitors, to an estimated 800,000 in two weeks. The visitors could potentially generate NT$ 380 million for the businesses in the events' proximity.
