One graduate of National Hualien Girls' Senior High School this year is visually impaired. The school presented her and a classmate who has taken care of her with life education awards and hopes her story can be a source of encouragement to other students.She will be attending National Chengchi University's Department of Political Science in the fall.
Xu Jia-min lost her sight at a young age, but she has never been held back by her disability. She has always worked hard in school, and will attend National Chengchi University this fall as a political science major.
You have to be humble and look at the areas other people are better at than you. You can't get too full of yourself.
Xu is very outgoing and talkative. She initially had a hard time keeping up when she started high school, but was able to catch with the help of classmate Shen Zi-han. The two are now best friends.
I only discovered that she needed help when I started working with her. At the time, there would be announcements about activities and she wouldn't be there.

Jia-min is an active child and has strong opinions that she always wants to express. She has matured and grown more thoughtful over the years.
Xu says she may change her major down the line if she decides to pursue a career as a music teacher or job consultant.
