Tsai Shih-ying Facing His Own Plagiarism Accusations 被指涉抄襲 蔡適應開箱論文:真金不怕火煉

DPP's Tsai Shih-ying became the latest candidate embroiled in plagarism controversy. Tsai protested his innocence in a press conference, saying "pure gold does not fear the test of fire."

The DPP's Keelung City mayoral candidate, Tsai Shih-ying, showed off his Ph.D. diploma from National Taipei University when he registered for the race. Like other candidates, Tsai is now dealing with accusations of a plagiarized thesis. According to the New Power Party, Tsai omitted 25 references in his thesis and his conclusion had a plagiarism similarity score of 33 percent. On the 2nd, Tsai called his thesis "real gold," saying real gold isn't afraid of fire.

Tsai Shih-ying, Keelung City Mayor Candidate (DPP): “...260-plus references. And then, I myself discovered that I accidentally left out many references. So, there should have been close to 300 references in my thesis. After that, I was really worried that these were too many, so I deleted some. So, I wasn't able to do a perfect job and I humbly accept (the criticism). Many people are saying, "Is Shih-ying's thesis plagiarized?" It's very simple. I conducted extremely in-depth interviews.”

Tsai said he is willing to defend his thesis before an ethics board. His opponent, the KMT's George Hsieh, is facing similar accusations of a plagiarized master's thesis with a similarity score of over 40 percent. On the 2nd, Hsieh refuted the claim, saying a check showed his thesis contained 82 percent original content.

George Hsieh, Keelung City Mayor Candidate (KMT): “Using established criteria, we found 82 percent original content and a similarity score of 18 percent. So, our thesis meets the standards. We will also proactively reach out to NCCU professors and the school to ask for their help with clarification.”

Hsieh went on to criticize the DPP for its attempts to take all candidates down along with Lin Chih-chien, and said the DPP will fail because voters are smarter than that.

民進黨基隆市長參選人蔡適應日前登記參選時秀出台北大學博士畢業證書，卻遭到時力指控論文涉抄襲，包含有25份文獻沒有列出參考文獻，結論涉嫌抄襲比例高達33%。蔡適應旋即在2日親上火線開箱他的論文，強調真金不怕火煉。

民進黨基隆市長參選人蔡適應表示：「260幾份的參考文獻後來自己有發現，我有漏列了許多的參考文獻，在我原始的稿件裡面有接近300份，後來我擔心有一些會不會太多了，我刪掉，部分的刪除，所以在這個部分沒有辦法做到盡善盡美我都虛心的接受。很多人說，適應這個論文是真的假的，很簡單，我有做深度訪談。」

蔡適應表示，願意到學倫會說明。不過對手國民黨基隆市長參選人謝國樑的政大碩士論文也遭質疑抄襲比例超過4成，謝國樑2日強調，自己的論文有高達8成2的原創。

國民黨基隆市長參選人謝國樑表示：「我們是按照原始的標準，搜尋完得到了82%的原創及18%的相似度，所以我們的論文是合乎標準，也會跟政大的老師跟學校主動地來聯繫，請他們幫忙釐清這些問題的真相。」

謝國樑認為，民進黨現在想打烏賊戰，把每一個參選的候選人都說成跟他們一樣，但他覺得，只要提出清楚的論述，民眾就知道箇中差異，他相信民進黨不會成功。
