Chen Trying to Minimize Green Card Controversy: KMT 陳時中自爆申請過綠卡 藍委批選前先消毒

According to the latest polls, DPP candidate Chen Shih-chung has a lead over the KMT's Chiang Wan-an and Deputy Mayor Vivian Huang in Taipei City. Chen is putting out the fire over his previous application for a Green Card, saying he wanted to plant roots in Taiwan after graduating. As for subsidies for seniors, Chen said he can't do enough for seniors and he would donate his own senior subsidy if they are restored.

Chen Shih-chung, who is running for Taipei City mayor, is busy trying to dampen the fire that has erupted over his Green Card application.

Chen Shih-chung, Taipei City Mayor Candidate (DPP): “Basically, when (Taiwan) withdrew from the United Nations and there was also White Terror, many college students left Taiwan. This is part of my past. I wasn't trying to flee to the U.S. or anything.”

Asked about subsidies for seniors, Chen said he can't do enough for seniors and there is no need to squabble over details. He also said he would donate his own senior subsidy if he wins the election. According to a new China Times poll, Chen has a support rating of 24.2 percent, followed by Chiang Wan-an with 23.9 percent and Vivian Huang with 22.2 percent.

Chen Shih-chung, Taipei City Mayor Candidate (DPP): “You can't say I'm winning. This is within the error of margin, so no one should put much stock in that.”

You Shu-hui, Taipei City Councilor (KMT): “There's no abandoning one candidate to save another at this point. Voters want to support a candidate that has a chance of winning and will vote based on that.”

Chien Shu-pei, Taipei City Councilor (DPP): “You might see some "abandoning one candidate to save another" in this kind of three-way race, but it won't be on a major scale.”

Kuomintang lawmaker Johnny Chiang says Taipei has changed over Ko Wen-je's eight years in office and two presidential elections, and the pan-blue camp can no longer take Taipei for granted.

年底大選，台北市將呈現三強鼎立，民進黨參選人陳時中在新書自爆曾申請過綠卡，也遭藍營立委批評是在參選前先消毒。

民進黨台北市長參選人陳時中表示：「基本上在（台灣）退出聯合國的時候，加上一些白色的恐怖，其實那時候大學生裡面，出國的非常的多，我想這是我人生的一部分，也沒有所謂挾美自重。」

針對敬老金議題，陳時中說對老人家的尊重只怕做不夠，太計較沒意思，若當選不只會發放，自己那份也會捐出。不過決戰首都，根據中國時報最新民調，陳時中支持度24.2%，超車蔣萬安的23.9%，黃珊珊則是22.2%。

陳時中對此表示：「我也不算是領先啦，這都在誤差範圍之內，所以基本上大家平常心來看。」

國民黨台北市議員游淑慧說：「現在已經沒有什麼棄跟保，選民當然想要支持一個會當選的，西瓜偎大邊的效應是一定會發生。」

民進黨台北市議員簡舒培則表示：「這種強三角的形式如果組成之後，我認為棄保就算會發酵，也不會大規模啦。」

民調拉鋸戰，國民黨立委江啟臣認為，經過柯文哲近8年執政，以及2次總統大選洗牌，台北市選民結構已改變，不能再沉浸「藍大於綠」的迷思，地方民代則認為，談棄保效應，現在還太早。
