Adding up the estimated unreported confirmed cases, the actual number of COVID-19 infections should be around 6 million. The New Taipei City Chinese Medical Doctors' Association analyzed that there could be up to 300,000 people who suffer from COVID-19 after effects also known as Long COVID; symptoms include extreme tiredness, problems with memory, concentration and shortness of breath.

COVID-19 patients share stories about their symptoms after recovery, including problems with memory, fatigue, cough, commonly known as Long COVID. According to WHO's estimate, about 20 percent of COVID-19 patients develop Long COVID symptoms. Specific Long COVID symptoms include headache, body soreness and ache, brain fog, insomnia, and heart palpitations. In respect of Taiwan confronting the Long COVID peak around July and August, the Association called out to the government to embark on forward planning and open up Long COVID outpatient services. It also pointed out that traditional Chinese medicine and acupuncture may help to modify the patient's body constitution and boost immunity, speeding up recovery.

Chinese medicine comes in perfect at this time to help with breathing and muscle deterioration problems. All these can be improved by Chinese medicine. ”
One traditional Chinese medicine practitioner believed that acupressure can boost immunity and improve Long COVID symptoms. A legislator pointed out that a lot of COVID-19 patients are children and teenagers, who may experience long-term effects, thus the Ministry of Health and Welfare must follow up with long-term observation and research.
