The mass power outage that occurred on March 3 triggered reactors to shut down at the Third Nuclear Power Plant in Pingtung County. While it has been confirmed that there is no risk of a radiation leak, No. 1 and No. 2 unit have been rebooted.
Due to malfunctioning of the Hsinta Power Plant, the two electricity generating units went into emergency shutdown after losing external power. The Atomic Energy Council approved for the No. 2 unit to be rebooted at 10:15 p.m. on the third. Parts of the No. 1 unit had to be fixed first before the unit was rebooted early morning on the 4th. It will still take a few days before the reactor reaches the maximum output.
