Taiwan Statebuilding Party legislator Chen Po-wei lost his seat in a recall vote on Oct. 23. On Oct. 25, he went back to work as usual. He didn't comment too much and only said that he wished for other candidates of his party to run to fill his seat.

After losing his seat in a recall vote on Sat., Oct. 23, Taiwan Statebuilding Party (TSP) Legislator Chen Po-wei went back to work as usual for another round of interpellation. Before the interpellation started, many DPP legislators gave him words of encouragement. Ker Chien-ming, the Chief Convener of the DPP legislative caucus, spoke with him briefly.
Chen Po-wei, Legislator (TSP)："OK, ok, ok. We still have a week. It's alright."
Chen did not express any opinion on whether there should be an amendment to the Public Officials Election and Recall Act. He only said he wished for other TSP candidates to run to fill his seat.
Chen Po-wei, Legislator (TSP)："We (TSP) have many young people. They need to discuss with their parents first before running and check if any of their ancestors or family members have commited crimes."
New speculations point to independent legislator Freddy Lim representing Wanhua District of Taipei City being the next one on the list to be recalled. As the next target of recall, Freddy Lim said he is not in the position to comment on whether there should be an amendment to the Public Officials Election and Recall Act. Freddy Lim, Legislator (Independent)："I think it takes some time to figure out the situation and what is the best strategy to take. We would of course look at this problem very seriously."
DPP expressed different opinions recently on how the recall act should be revised or amended. KMT Chairperson Eric Chu commented saying that the DPP is only considering changes that are to their advantage.
Eric Chu, KMT Chairperson："They only want what is right for them. They feel the threshold for removal is too high one day and again feel the threshold is too low the next day. If the target of recall is a KMT official they want the threshold to be as low as possible and if the target of recall is a pan-green official they want the threshold to be as high as possible."
Chu said that Chen would have lost the recall election under the original recall act anyway. He did not give further comment representing the KMT on whether the recall act should be revised or amended.
