Track and Field Athletes Head to Tokyo 田徑選手鄭兆村.黃士峰.陳奎儒 前進東奧

Chinese Taipei track and field athletes Cheng Chao-tsun, Huang Shi-feng and Chen Kuei-ru flew to Tokyo on July 29. The Chinese Taipei Athletics Association says this is Taiwan's best chance to medal in track and field in almost 60 years.

A trio of Chinese Taipei track and field athletes, Cheng Chao-tsun, Huang Shih-feng, and Chen Kuei-ru, headed off to the Tokyo Olympics with their coach, Hsueh Sheng-jung and Wang Kuo-hui, on July 29. Chinese Taipei Athletics Association President Yeh Chen-yen presented them with a special subsidy at the airport.

Yeh Chen-yen, President, Chinese Taipei Athletics Association："With Cheng Chao-tsun and Huang Shih-feng, this is our best chance to medal in almost 60 years, since the era of Yang Chuan-kwang and Chi Cheng."

Cheng ranks fifth in the world in javelin, while Huang is competing in his second Olympics. In Asia, Huang ranks only behind Cheng.

“Go track and field! Cheng Chao-tsun, bring back a gold medal! Huang Shih-feng and Kuei-ru, good luck this time around!”

Chen Kuei-ru, meanwhile, is competing in his first Olympics. He set a world record in the 110-meter hurdles at the 2017 Universiade, winning the silver medal. He also won a silver medal at the Asian Games in Jakarta the following year. The association says Chinese Taipei has a great chance of medaling this year and called on the public to give the athletes their support and encouragement

三位中華代表隊田徑選手鄭兆村、黃士峰、陳奎儒和教練薛聖融、王國慧，29號一早現身桃園機場，準備啟程前往東京奧運。田徑協會理事長葉政彥也來送機，並致贈加油金。

中華民國田徑協會理事長 葉政彥表示：「最有希望的，就是我們的標槍鄭兆村以及黃士峰。也是我們過去，從楊傳廣跟紀政以後，幾乎差不多60年來，今年是最有機會得牌。」

田徑協會理事長葉政彥特別提到，黃金右臂鄭兆村世界排名前5；另一名標槍好手黃士峰是上屆里約奧運國手，第二次參加奧運，亞洲成績僅次鄭兆村。

「田徑，加油！鄭兆村，拿金牌回來好不好？好！黃士峰、奎儒加油。」

另外，今年是台灣欄神陳奎儒首次參加奧運，他曾在2017年台北世大運110公尺跨欄項打破全國紀錄，奪下銀牌，也在隔年雅加達亞運奪下銀牌。田徑協會表示，今年奪牌機會濃厚，希望大家拭目以待並幫忙集氣加油。
