COVID-19 Epidemic Boosts Online Shopping|疫情推升網路購買 料理包.薑黃湯人氣夯

While COVID-19 has caused heavy losses in the tourism industry, online shopping has seen a huge boom in its sales. Taitung Agricultural Products Corporation has seen a 20 percent to 30 percent growth in online sales compared to the same period of last year.

People tend to avoid eating out during the COVID-19 outbreak. That's why instant meals are gaining popularity, such as this pasta product. Its sauce is made from Taitung's local produce. Complemented with a single-serve instant turmeric soup, it is a healthy lunch for a busy working adult.

It is very convenient and the main point is it's not just an instant meal, there is also vegetables in it.
We used chenopodium and local swordfish from Taitung in the sauce.

Taitung Agricultural Products Corporation has been helping small farmers for the past 2 years by promoting agricultural products that have been made into instant meals. As of now, there are a few hundreds of products which are popular souvenirs during peak travel seasons. The number of visitors has declined sharply as people refrain from travelling during the COVID-19 outbreak, but there is a burst in online shopping. Compared to February of last year, the sale sees an increase of 30 percent in home deliveries this year. There are more than 200 orders in March until now and is stil counting. Small farmers who self-operate online shopping have also experienced a growth in revenue of 20 percent to 50 percent when compared to the same period of last year.

The sale has increased by 50 percent.

We have seen an increase in online sales as we move the products online. It can compensate for the loss in the physical stores.

The Taitung Agricultural Products Corporation said it has cancelled marketing events outside of Taitung due to the COVID-19 outbreak. The company said it will reinforce all the online platforms and utilize online shopping to promote healthy agricultural goods from Taitung.

農產加工業者 陳金惠表示:「拌醬的部分,就是用台東的紅藜,還有台東在地的旗魚。」


農產加工業者 陳建志表示:「成長了大概5成。」

台東農產公司總經理 吳柏成表示:「我們現在走這些線上的訂單,反而它是提升的,我們剛好可以跟我們實體店面,這些下降的這些營業額,我們可以去做相對的互補。」
