New Power Party Legislator Huang Kuo-chang recently accused Kuomintang presidential candidate Han Kuo-yu of being involved in an illegal gravel excavation case. On Dec. 2, Han's legal team filed a lawsuit at the Taipei District Prosecutors' Office against Huang for spreading fake information with the intent of making Han appear unsuitable for the presidency.
Han Kuo-yu's legal team arrives at the Taipei District Prosecutors' Office on Dec. 2 to press charges against New Power Party Legislator Huang Kuo-chang. The lawsuit said Huang spread fake information with the intent of making Han appear unsuitable for the presidency by accusing Han being involved in an illegal gravel excavation case.
Legislator Huang Kuo-chang was obviously lying when he claimed he did his homework. He is using false information to attack the reputation of a candidate and affect his election chances. This is an obvious attempt to influence an election, which is why we have filed a lawsuit today.
One day earlier, Huang mocked Han in a Facebook post by reminding him to ring the "Accusation Bell" instead of the "Special Service Bell" at the prosecutors' office. Han's office had this to say in response.
How is it that Huang Kuo-chang's perspective has become so narrow? When he is faced with us using judicial methods to ask for a fair interpretation, he can only come up with these sarcastic and sour remarks. It's the same with those netizens who praise him as a deity without considering that he is becoming more and more out of touch as he tries to make himself relevant in the election. I think this is lamentable.
Huang also told Han to request an immediate hearing to ensure the two could have a showdown in a public court of law. Han's office said Huang should convince President Tsai Ing-wen to agree to participate in a debate instead. It appears the gravel case will not be resolved any time soon, now that charges have been pressed.
