North Korea launched a Scud-class ballistic missile on the early morning of May 29th, little more than a week after it launched its Pukkuksong-2 missile on May 21st. The latest missile landed in Japan's exclusive economic zone in the Sea of Japan, and Japan held an emergency press conference to condemn the missile test. North Korea launched another missile from the city of Wonsan on its east coast at 5:40 AM Japan time on May 29th. South Korean government analysts said that it was a Scud-class missile that flew east about 450 kilometers before it landed in Japan's exclusive maritime economic zone. The Japanese government held an emergency press conference one hour later condemning the test. ==SHINZO ABE Prime Minister, Japan== North Korea has ignored multiple warnings from the international community and continued in its provocations. This is unacceptable. We strongly protest North Korea in its actions. Japan's Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga said that the missile landed 300 kilometers off the Oki islands. There are no reports of damaged ships or planes. This is the 12th missile North Korea has launched this year. ==NHK REPORTER== (A North Korean Missile) has landed in Japan's EEZ for the 4th time this year. The last time was March 6, when Japan launched 4 Scud-ER missiles, 3 of which landed in Japan's EEZ. The Yonhap News Agency reported that this latest launch comes after two launches of long- and intermediate-range missiles this month. Unlike the previous two launches, this launch was not conducted at a high angle. South Korean President Moon Jae-in called an emergency national security council meeting at 7:30 AM local time in response to the test. Korean media analysis pointed out that the consecutive missile launches may be to improve North Korea's missile technology to eventually carry a nuclear warhead and also is a retaliation to the international community's continued pressure on the country. US President Donald Trump has been informed of the launch and Shinzo Abe said that Japan will work with the US to take action against North Korea.
